pubescens

growing two pubescens varieties this year, an unusual brown rocoto from peru (left) and a chile manzano from méxico (seeds from villahermosa, tabasco). they're both slowly growing tall and hairy. also, the chile de simojovel from chiapas germinated this morning.

este año estoy cultivando dos variedades pubescens, un inusual rocoto marrón del perú (izquierda) y un chile manzano de méxico (semillas de villahermosa, tabasco). ambos van creciendo despacio y peludos. además, el chile de simojovel de chiapas germinó esta mañana.

first month / primer mes

first batch is progressing smoothly after the season's first month. second batched showed very poor germination rates and about 50% varieties didn't sprout, thus a third batch will be neccessary. didn't unplug the propagator the night before transplanting the 2nd batch into little pots and the seedlings went into shock due to soil temperature difference, a lesson learnt here... hope they'll recover.

la 1a remesa progresa adecuadamente después del primer mes de la temporada. la 2a remesa ha sufrido una proporción de germinaciones bastante pobre, sin que el 50% de las variedades despuntaran, por lo que será necesaria una tercera remesa. no desenchufé el semillero la noche antes de transplantarlas en pequeñas macetas y las plantucas han entrado en estado de shock por la diferencia de temperaturas del sustrato, una lección aprendida... espero que se recuperen.
